Mr. Hermann has successfully represented numerous clients in claims for professional negligence/malpractice. Professional negligence claims against attorneys typically involve the breach of the standard of care which results in a loss of an otherwise meritorious claim or inadequate outcome in an underlying action that is attributable to the errors and/or omissions of the individual’s prior attorney(s). Professional negligence claims against accountants typically involve an ill-advised tax or business planning strategy that results in an economic loss attributable to the accountant or other business professional’s negligence.
In 2014, following thirteen day arbitration proceeding, Mr. Hermann obtained an award on behalf of his client of over $1.2 million in connection with the claims and/or counter-claims relating to the professional negligence of a high profile Oakland County law firm whose principal attorney was once featured in Crain’s Magazine’s “40 Under 40.”
